Video Editing Complete

So we finished our video (me and Dave) and I think its pretty good. Our main focus was on steriod usage in professional sports, especially in baseball. We focused on Barry Bonds, who is well known for his steriod use. We had some problems with spacing considering how large the video was, but next to that the process of creation went pretty smooth. Anyways, the video is below so check it out.

Video Problemo

So we have been working on our video, and the main problem we have encountered was the lack of sufficient space on the University computers. Even after cleaning basically everything I had from my desktop, room was still an issue. The main idea we are using for our video is the ideology regarding one's acceptance into the Major league Baseball Hall of fame if the conductee was known to have taken steriods. There are many controversial views regarding this position, some believing in acceptance of the person, while others believe the person should be discarded. The purpose of our video is to let the viewer decide for themselves about whether or not this is acceptable. The main problem with creating this video is finding images and videos of major league footage that is older than approximately five years (Back when Barry Bonds was much smaller). Dealing with professional sports, there is also a large amount of copyright protection, so it will likely take quite long to find suitable clips.

Our video will be based on Barry Bonds's time in the Major League.

Video Collaberation

So me and my friend Dave Peltier are teamed up to work on the video project which should be good. I typically prefer to work alone on such projects, but due to the similarities of interests which we hold, I think we may be able to create something that we both like (most likely sports related). We have generated some vague ideas already, and we think our project will most likely revolve around the steroid usage in professional baseball, and the emphasis this has on hall of fame inductees. We have our ideas, but I believe the main problems are going to come in acquiring such video and audio clips. Considering so much of the web has copying preventative measures these days, I don't know if we will be able to get all the clips that we want. Oh well, what is one to do besides continue to look.

Considering my great love for traveling, I thought I would recommend this travel site to anyone who views my blog. There are some great deals here.

Nice Work

So here is the finished design for my website, minus the write-up. As you can see the color schematic is pretty bland, yet appealing at the same time. The coloring is limited to black and grey, which kind of communicates a modern sense. I really enjoy the way that these two colors complement one another so well. I believe this background is creating the professional sense that I was aiming for. Not to exciting, yet not to boring either. The city in the background communicates a business type atmosphere, while the car communicates an ideology associated with speed and money. Considering I am a finance major, I believe this fits in well.

Site Meter Confusion

So I have completed everything I need to do in regards to my website except for acquiring a site meter. I am having problems with getting the site meter in the proper area of my index page, for some reason it feels as though it should go on the right or left side of my page, rather than in the center. I struggled with getting the meter in my page period, and now can't seem to place it where I like. I tell ya. I guess a little more trial and error is necessary, and hopefully I can get this thing layed out right. Next to the problems, I personally think my web page is quite well put together, for I personally would view a site with a similar layout. It's simple, and easy to navigate within, which is very important to me.

Next to that, my favorite basketball team (LA Clippers) are in the playoff picture. Be sure to check some stats about about them out at http://www.nba.com/

Design Done

So I'm finished designing my website, and all has worked out fairly well besides the original table problems. Looking at my design, I feel as thought I created the type of website I was aiming for, which is a profesional yet simple look. I beleive that if a potential employer looked at my site that they would be quite impressed, for I'm not to overwelming, yet am still communicating what's important. I actually asked one of my friends to check out my website, and his reaction was quite positive. Hopefully other people who view my website will have similiar reactions.

Part way thorugh

I'm done the process of creating my website design, and I really like the design I have thus far. I put in a glimpse of the city as well as a picture of a fancy car. I'm aiming for a professional sort of look, for I intent my website to be viewed by my future potential employers. I beleive having a website for potential employers to look at will prove to be quite beneficial in regards to obtaining employment. I also beleive I may reference my site to my friends, that is if I like what I create, which so far I do. I guess we'll see what happens.

No love for Dream weaver

Starting my website design in Photoshop proved to be fairly simple for me to conduct. Problems began to arise with the operations of Dream weaver though, for the table setup system almost drove me insane. I had extreme problems in regards to the spacing of my images, for it seemed that everything I put in, didn't fit properly. After multiple hours, finally things began to come together. I'm still quite confused with many aspects of Dream weaver, but things are looking a little better.

Web Site Design

I am looking forward to being able to design my own website. Having this knowledge will prove quite beneficial to my future, for this could provide a good foundation for myself in regards to job acquisition. I'm still contemplating how I plan to set up my page, but believe I will more than likely go with a simple and clear approach (that is what I value in regards to websites). I am looking forward to being able to put something on the worldwide web, considering how often I view various webpages, for it will be nice to know the composition of the websites I tend to view. It will also be nice to know I am making a contribution to the web, rather than continuously viewing other peoples contributions. I look forward to having my friends and family check out my web page, for as a finance major, they probably would have never expected me to do such a thing. The problem now is to create something of high quality.

Anyways, baseball season is drawing near at it's time for my boys to get it done.

Finished Collage

Here is my finished collage. One's first reaction to my creation may be one of confusion. To see the diver diving into a pool of sharks, one may wonder what the meaning behind this is. My main ideology behind this was to create a sense of facing one's fear in order to cope with one's problem. Like my image, I once swam with sharks (baby sharks) at a waterpark in Florida. Before this event, my greatest fear was sharks, but after swimming with them, my fear was greatly reduced. Still to this day my greatest fear is sharks, but after my encounter, it is much less of a fear. This conveyed largely to the meaning behind my collage. My collage is titled "Dive in". I also included the statement "fear nothing" to further convey the ideology of facing what it is that you fear, and in turn not fearing this item any longer.

Collage In The bag

So I finally finished my collage, which i might add i'm quite happy about. In the creation of my collage, a large majority of my time was spent collecting pictures and arranging them properly amongst my image. I had some problems at first in regards to making it so all my images were visible. After working it around, I was able to make it so the viewer could see all of my shark images, ranging from the ones in the rear to the front. All in all, I'm quite happy with the finished product that I created.

On the verdge of a Collage

The time to start my collage is drawing near, and once again, I have no idea how I am going to begin. I have a great interest in the ocean and ocean life (even though my greatest fear is sharks), and believe I may base my collage on this ideology. Its odd how something your scared of can interest you so much.

I don't feel as helpless as I did for the self portrait though, for I do understand the possiblities in regards to photoshop and look forward to using some of the various editing tools once again. I can only aim my target upwards now, and look forward to creating something great.

Self Portrait

So here is my finished self portrait. Im quite pleased with how it turned out. I especially like the color schematic in this image, for it is very bright and attention getting. I personally never thought I would be able to create a self portrait which I personally liked, but I actually kind of enjoy my creation.

I had some problems with the layer usage in photoshop when creating my image, but eventually came to understand it, which helped me alot in the creation of my collage. I am very interested in symbolic artists such as Jacques Louis David, and this was a large reason why I chose to take a symbolic approach to my work (symbolism shown in background, and religious figures).

From rags to riches

So my self portrait is nearly done, and I am actually quite impressed with my progress so far. I have created a background by combining two images, and really like the results. I really enjoy the way that the two backgrounds compliment one another, and believe these backgrounds together really help to convey my ideas. At first I felt helpless, but through trial and error, and Michaels teaching, I was able to strive on.

I had previously never used photoshop, but now consider using it on almost a regular basis. I believe a person could create a pretty cool family portrait using photoshop, and I consider doing this myself.

The importance of spacing and colors also became evident to me when creating my self portrait. By changing the color of my shirt, my whole image became better. It also created a new meaning to my picture by matching the color of my upper background.

Technological Shock

Previously, I had never used the program adobe photoshop. After messing around with it, I am quite impressed by the things which can be done within this program. I enjoy the fact that I can insert any image I want, and make basically any changes that I want. I also enjoy editing and changing my own photo in various ways.

It amazed me the way that pictures were edited for magazines, photos, etc. The way skin tone and texture could be changed to mere perfection was quite interesting. This makes me wonder how many companies and people use these techniques (likely they all do). Thats why they tell people not to compare themselves to the people they see in magazines.

In regards to my self portrait, I have had many ideas in regards to what to do, but have yet to decide for sure. I was always interested in Neo-classical art, and the reference to god ideology. The image we looked at in class where the man made himself look of religious importance, I found very interesting. I don't think i would do this myself, yet at the same time I thought it was very cool.

Self Portrait in the bag

So my self portrait is done, and I like what I see. At first I figured once I was done my self portrait, that I would just forget about it, but now I actually consider hanging it at my home.

When I took my portrait to be framed, the lady at the store was very impressed with my creation, asking me how I did it. I was pretty happy about the recognition I received, and realized that the creation of an image like this, is alot easier than it would seem to be.

The way I acknowledge celebrities, in magzines has also changed greatly. I actually wonder more often what is real, than what is fake (considering the large majority that is fake). I think of all the people who live according to these fake standards, and am appalled. Whatever happened to reality and realistic goals?

Next to new media, I' pretty down on the fact that my favorite basketball team is on a downslide (LA Clippers). Why? Ah, they'll bounce back.
